List of artist lost in 2015

January:

January 18, 2015: 26-year-old ASAP Yams was the visionary behind (and founder of) ASAP Mob. Details about his cause of death are unknown, but his passing was confirmed on social media by the likes of Drake, Azealia Banks, and M.I.A.

ASAP Yams, born Steven Rodriguez, founded ASAP Mob with ASAP Bari and ASAP Illzwhen he was just 17 years old. His business savvy and incredible taste are often credited with the success of ASAP Rocky's #1 album, Long.Live.A$AP. His hip hop blog became a go-to read for anyone looking to learn about the up-and-coming rap scene. 

Despite his success, Yams had a history of risky behavior. It's rumored that he almost chocked to death on his own vomit after taking too much Xanax and syrup at Coachella one year. 


February:

February 2nd, 2015: The Jacka a rapper from california passed away. Best known for his street poetry, and being one of the last leading forces of west cost rap music in the United States. He has sold 100,000's of albums. 










March:

March 20, 2015: Twisted Sister drummer A.J. Pero died at the age of 55. His cause of death was not immediately known, but the band did announce his passing on its Facebook page. 

Born Anthony Jude Pero, A.J. first joined Twisted Sister in 1982. He was with the band from 1982-1986, during which time they released a top 20 album, Stay Hungry, and created an angst-y rock classic in "We're Not Gonna Take It." Pero rejoined the band in 1997. 



April:

April 29, 2015: Alabama rapper The Last Mr. Bigg passed away in his sleep. The influential Mobile musician was bornDonald Maurice Pears and was only in his early 40s when he died. He was featured on Three 6 Mafia's 2006 hit, "Poppin' My Collar," but was perhaps most recognizable from his appearance in the 2010 documentary about rap music's relationship with gun violence called Number One with a Bullet. In the doc, he recounted getting shot in the head twice, which led to the loss of one eye. The Last Mr. Bigg replaced it with a glass and diamond prosthetic, which garnered him the nickname "Diamondeye." The cause of death was not immediately known. 


May:

May 17, 2015: Rapper Chinx was shot and killed in Queens, NY. The up-and-comer,  whose real name was Lionel Pickens, was riding in a car in the early hours of the morning when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire. He was hit in the torso and chest, and died later at a Queens hospital. 

Chinx, 31, was part of French Montana's Coke Boys group. No arrests were made immediately following the murder, but an investigation was underway. 



June:

June 13, 2015: Rapper MC Supreme was killed in Malibu, CA, when a pickup truck hit his parked car on the shoulder of the Pacific Coast Highway. The 47-year-old "Black in America" performer, whose real name was Dewayne Coleman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was arrested on suspicion of DUI. 



July:

July 21, 2015: After the Burial guitarist Justin Lowe was found dead days after going missing. The musician had recently quit the band with a disturbing announcement. He claimed his band mates had sabotaged his computer and staged a friend's death. Days later, his sister posted that he had gone missing, and that friends and family were afraid for him due to his broken state of mind. A hiker found his body beneath the Arcola High Bridge near Somerset, Wisconsin. He was 32. 



August:

August 7, 2015: Rapper Sean Price died in his sleep at the young age of 43. Price was a member of the hip-hop groups Heltah Skeltah, Boot Camp Clik, and Random Axe, but also forged a successful solo career after decades in the music biz.As a solo artist, he released three studio albums: 2005's Monkey Barz, 2007's Jesus Price Supastar, and 2012's Mic Tyson. The beloved Brooklyn native's cause of death is still unknown. Price is survived by his wife and three children. 






November:

November 11, 2015: Motorhead drummer Phil Taylor passed away at the age of 61. He played with the heavy metal band for 14 years in the '70s, '80s, and '90s (despite leaving he group for three years in 1984). The band posted about his death on the official Facebook page, saying, "Lil' Philthy...he who fuelled many a young boy's punk/metal hairstyles...he who played the drums with fury and intent...friend, Roman, Derbyshireman...rest in peace...with much love."
